The Department of Psychology organized a workshop titled “Mindfulness through Indigenous Practices” to explore how traditional Indian wisdom can nurture present-moment awareness and holistic well-being. Parallel to the workshop, an Exhibition on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) was arranged, showcasing India’s profound heritage of psychological and philosophical insights.
The resource person for the program was Ms. Sanjana Sruthi, Organisational Psychologist, Jeyabarathy, Counselling Psychologist, and Mithra Malarvizhy, Organisational Psychologist, Dhruti Trust. The event was designed to help students connect modern mindfulness techniques with India’s ancient practices drawn from yoga, music, and classical psychology, thus reinforcing the relevance of indigenous knowledge in contemporary mental-health approaches.
Students actively participated in the workshop which provided hands-on experiences that allow them to feel mindfulness rather than only read about it. They participated in exhibition through which they facilitated interactive activities, thereby deepening their understanding and communication abilities.
